Job description
Staff Power Electronics Engineer
Responsibilities
• Contribute to the design and specification of the components and systems in the grid-to-chip power chain.
• Build out the test environment and perform engineering test and validation of the grid-to-chip chain.
• Design test hardware including the overall test environment, test fixtures, loads, and other devices to simulate various loading conditions and to evaluate the performance of the power chain. Testing includes basic function testing, robustness and reliability testing, high-power cycle testing, high-bandwidth power testing, energy storage testing, and numerous other types of tests involved in AI power system validation.
• Design and prototype custom components as may be needed to support the Graphcore power architecture. This includes the low-level design of power conversion hardware and rapid prototyping.
• Support the transition of system designs from test and validation into the manufacturing and production environments
• Ensure robustness of IT power in the presence of grid disturbances and make sure that IT power loads are compatible with grid power requirements (“good grid power citizen”)
• Provide guidance to the power equipment manufacturers, ODM and engineering teams on the required testing and validation procedures for power hardware and firmware components.
• Tackle and resolve sophisticated power hardware and firmware issues as needed.
Required Skills and Experience :
• Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, knowledge of Power Electronics desired.
• Demonstrated ability in power system and delivery architecture, design, and development.
• Experience testing high voltage and high power systems, Proficiency in power hardware and firmware development and debugging.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:
• Familiarity with new technologies in AI and data center infrastructure.
