Job description

About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

The Maintenance Technician is the primary executor of planned and reactive maintenance activities at Redwood Materials. Technicians are responsible for keeping equipment, machinery, and facility systems in safe, reliable operating condition. They work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and in close coordination with Production Operations, Reliability Engineering, and Controls teams.

Technicians are expected to work safely, complete tasks accurately and on time, maintain precise CMMS records, and escalate issues that exceed their scope of competency to the appropriate resource.

Requirements

• Develop, implement, and support manufacturing and operational processes to meet production, quality, and business objectives

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment and systems in accordance with established procedures and safety standards

• Analyze operational and production data (e.g., yield, throughput, downtime, cost) to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities

• Prepare and maintain accurate operational, technical, and financial documentation, including reports, logs, and process records

• Coordinate with cross-functional partners (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance) to support day-to-day operations

• Support planning and execution activities related to production schedules, materials, and cost or resource utilization

• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory and safety requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• High school Diploma or Equivalent. Associates degree, Trade School, and/or Military technical highly preferred.

• Extensive technical expertise in troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and process improvement.

• Hands-on experience disassembling and reassembling complex mechanical systems.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.

• Background in heavy commercial equipment, including conveyors, pump rebuilds, rigging, machine installations, and alignments strongly preferred.

• Experience in troubleshooting both AC and DC electrical systems, as well as proficiency in motion control, motors, pneumatics, sensors, PLCs, and hydraulics.

• Familiarity with 480 VAC and lower voltages, including wiring electrical cabinets.

• Understanding of NEC codes and NFPA 70E practices.

• Proficient in using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

• Capability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, confined space, and temperature extremes for extended periods in full PPE suits and head covers.

• Knowledge and proper use of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, fitted masks, PAPR, Tyvek suit, safety shoes, and other personal protective equipment when necessary.

• Physical ability to stand, lift, and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment, adhering to company policies and industry standards.

• A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
