About this Role:
Our company, Wolt License Services (WLS), is a dynamic organization specializing in payment and financial services for our parent company Wolt, a prominent platform marketplace, and Wolt’s customers. WLS currently manages all merchant payment flows across 22 markets, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, including AML, safeguarding customer funds, and maintaining robust internal controls. As a licensed and supervised payment and e-money institution, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in our operations.
As we continue to expand our financial services and merchant base across Europe, we are seeking to strengthen our customer due diligence (CDD) by recruiting Localisation Specialists to join our Financial Crime Prevention function. The Localisation Specialist will act as the local market subject matter expert (SME) for merchant CDD requirements, supporting onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities across one or more EEA markets.
This role requires a strong understanding of local regulatory and business environments, CDD requirements and merchant onboarding practices. The Localisation Specialist will work closely with Sales, Merchant Operations, Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention teams to ensure merchant onboarding processes remain compliant, efficient and aligned with local market requirements. The role will report to the AML Lead.
What you'll be doing:
• Act as the local SME for merchant onboarding and CDD requirements within designated EEA markets.
• Support the identification, interpretation and documentation of local market-specific requirements affecting merchant onboarding, CDD, beneficial ownership verification and ongoing monitoring activities.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to local Sales, Merchant Operations and Onboarding teams regarding CDD requirements, documentation expectations, onboarding decisions and customer lifecycle events.
• Support the development and maintenance of local onboarding guidance, procedures, playbooks and training materials to ensure consistent implementation of CDD requirements.
• Assist in identifying local regulatory, legal and market developments that may impact merchant onboarding requirements and CDD processes.
• Collaborate with the KYC/B Lead, AML Compliance function and 1 LoD Financial Crime Prevention team to ensure local requirements are appropriately reflected in onboarding procedures, risk assessments, controls and tooling.
• Support onboarding operations in resolving complex CDD cases, including escalations related to ownership structures, legal entity verification, high-risk industries and local documentation requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance reviews and control monitoring activities to identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Support testing and implementation of onboarding process enhancements, new products, new market launches and CDD tooling developments.
• Foster a strong compliance culture by promoting awareness of CDD requirements and acting as a trusted advisor for local business stakeholders.
Our humble expectations:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, Compliance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in CDD, KYC/KYB, AML compliance, merchant onboarding, financial services operations or related areas.
• Strong understanding of local business environments, legal entity structures and merchant onboarding practices within one or more EEA markets.
• Familiarity with AML/CFT regulations and CDD requirements applicable to financial, payment or e-money institutions.
• Experience supporting operational teams, CDD or compliance-related activities in a regulated environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain regulatory requirements in a practical and business-friendly manner.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with international and cross-functional teams.
• Professional fluency in English and at least one local EEA language relevant to the supported markets is highly advantageous.
