Android Engineer: Device Foundations

We are hiring across multiple role levels across different teams in Device Foundations (Software engineer 1, 2 and Senior).

The Device Foundations Team is building and operating the foundational device platform that powers reliable, scalable payment experiences across Adyen terminals and consumer devices. Our team collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to address various aspects such as payment terminal user interfaces, firmware quality, and the integration of our payment terminals. We empower our merchants to seamlessly and independently integrate with reliable products at scale and with rapid deployment.

Requirements

• Able to debug and solve problems within the Android application and collaborate effectively on cross-functional issues

• Proactive in bringing great ideas to improve our solution

• Enthusiastic to investigate new technical possibilities, yet able to work within existing frameworks

• Self-disciplined and enjoy working at a fast pace while managing and prioritizing goals

• Strong grasp of native Android application development

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the Android SDK

• Experience with modern Android architecture, including dependency injection (e.g. Hilt, Dagger) and asynchronous programming (e.g. Kotlin Coroutines and Flow)

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Nice to have technical qualifications:

• Familiarity with AOSP or building system-level apps.

• Knowledge of security best practices.

• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks.

This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
